We have accomplished a great deal as a start-up organization in our marketing and sales efforts along with our community outreach. 1st Annual Luncheon Attracts Big Crowd

The First Annual West Michigan Sports Commission Luncheon was a hot ticket in Grand Rapids on September 26th, 2007 and resulted in a huge success! Thanks to the WMSC luncheon sales committee and work of co-chairs Deb Walsh Kay and Peter Secchia, corporate tables and individual tickets were sold out within three weeks without much need for advance promotion. GR Marathon Breaks Attendance Records

The 4th Annual Metro Health Grand Rapids Marathon occurred on Sunday, October 28 starting near the David D. Hunting YMCA. The weekend began Saturday with an expo, packet pick-up and a pasta dinner. On race day, a record 2,400+ participants ran either a full marathon (26.2 miles) or half marathon (13.1 miles). Neil Sauter contributed to the excitement of the race by attempting to break the world record of walking a marathon on STILTS! (read more)
