Mission
"...to promote Michigan's West Coast as the premier venue for hosting a diverse level of youth and amateur sporting events, enhancing the economy and quality of life in the region."

Executive Director's Corner
Mike Guswiler, Executive Director

With the West Michigan Sports Commission's inaugural year of 2007 behind us, we embark on an exciting 2008. This past year has positioned us as a strong contender for hosting a wide range of youth and amateur sporting events.

Many projects are underway that will lead to a successful 2008. A subcommittee of our board is working with Varnum Consulting on our Strategic Plan. This plan will implement identifiable action steps, creating efficient and measurable outcomes focused on results and where we want to be as an organization three years from now. Several ongoing sales prospects will provide immediate results in this year, while also creating necessary partnerships for continued success in the future. The work completed around a Sports Facility Inventory Analysis and subsequent matching of state, regional, and national events will continue to be a resource as we strengthen our region's ability to host a diverse level of sporting events.

I am enthusiastic for what 2008 will bring for the West Michigan Sports Commission and for our community. I appreciate the continued support of our Executive Committee, Board, Donors, Team Players, and supporters throughout the West Michigan region. Thanks for being a part of our effort. Until next time...

Go Team!
